What is
Clinical Pilates?
Australian physiotherapists have developed clinical pilates to combine the concepts of the original traditional pilates exercises with current physiotherapy knowledge based on research into spinal stability.
Clinical pilates focuses on postural awareness and muscular control, particularly of the “core” or trunk muscles rather than on physical strength. Core control and core stability are important to provide a stable base for all functional movement.
How does Clinical Pilates work?
Carolyn Merritt is a fully qualified physiotherapist with formal training and practical experience in clinical pilates. All staff are fully trained.
After a thorough assessment, we can tailor a clinical pilates program to meet your individual needs.
We will closely supervise your technique to ensure optimal results and prevent provocative positions.
Because Clinical pilates is run by physiotherapists, you can claim a rebate on private health insurance extras.
Pilates can be adapted for all levels of fitness, body types and ages. It can be commenced even if you have a current injury / pain as our program is individually tailored to your needs and all patients undergo a thorough assessment prior to commencement of the program.
Clinical pilates helps to improve posture, general flexibility and efficiency of movement through enhanced body awareness and specific exercises that target muscles responsible for core stability.
Pilates is a great compliment to any injury rehabilitation program or fitness routine.
Pilates is available as individual treatment sessions or group sessions.
